Rough floor planing

If your home is in Copenhagen and your wooden floor is badly damaged, it can usually be repaired, but it will look a little different. Coarse sanding is a quick way to remove a lot of wood, but it doesn't leave a smooth finish. It can be useful if you have a stain, old varnish or deep nicks in the floor that you really want to remove. Since a coarse sanding leaves a finish that is not suitable for applying a protective coating, always sand with finer sandpaper afterwards. Although a varnish can seal a floor completely, it must still be smooth to walk on without shoes on. You also can't risk children getting splinters in their feet, so always go with a medium-high sanding.

Medium sanding leaves a smooth surface suitable for the application of a final treatment such as varnish or oil.
